Nour was not the fastest bunny at the oasis. Riko the jerboa won every race, boing-boing-boing. Nour was not the jumpiest either.
But Nour shared her clover. Nour sat with anyone who felt sad. Nour always said “please” and “thank you” and “are you okay?”
One morning, a new animal arrived at the oasis — a little hedgehog, all spikes and shyness. He curled into a tight ball and wouldn’t come out.
“He’s prickly,” whispered the big cubs. “He’s strange,” whispered the birds. Nobody went near him.
Nobody except Nour.
Nour hopped over softly and sat beside the little ball. She didn’t poke it. She didn’t stare. “Hello,” she said gently. “I’m Nour. I brought you some clover. It’s sweet.”
Slowly… very slowly… the ball uncurled. Two bright eyes peeked out. “I’m Sami,” said the hedgehog in a tiny voice. “I’m scared of new places.”
“Then I’ll stay with you until it feels like home,” said Nour.
That evening, at the date-sharing feast under the palm trees, something funny happened. Every animal wanted to sit next to Nour.
“Why does everybody love Nour?” asked little Riko. Fadi flicked his enormous ears. “Because she loved everybody first.”
The lesson: Being loved doesn’t come from being the fastest or the best — it comes from being kind.
Talk about it: Who can you be kind to today?
